This monitor records since December 2009 the nightly extinction
coefficients for Paranal as observed with FORS2. For a given date
certified standard star field observations within +/- 2 weeks around
that date are used to determine the extinction coefficient for that
date. To ensure that indeed all standard star observations have been
certified by the time the determination is done a delay of 2 weeks is
introduced between the end of the time range mentioned above (date+2
weeks) and today. Thus the data in this plot show a delay of 4 weeks
relative to the current date.
Data obtained on photometric
nights are plotted in colour.

The latest date is indicated on top of the plot, data points belonging to that date are specially marked.
If configured,
statistical averages are indicated by a solid line, and thresholds by broken lines
outliers are marked by a red asterisk. They are defined as data points outside the
threshold lines
"aliens" (= data points outside the plot Y limits) are marked by a red arrow (↑ or ↓)
