top Introduction

This tutorial provides information for the MOS - Lamps Health Check trending.
The MOS - Lamps trending is based on the measurement of QC1 parameters of FIBRE FLAT and WAVECAL calibration data obtained with dedicated Health Check OBs executed daily. These OBs obtain one set of MOS FIBRE FLAT data and one set of MOS WAVECAL data, both in the &+1 Fibre mode, 580.0nm wavelength MOS setting useing Plate-1.
QC parameters for all eight fibres are trended, but only fibre-4 is used for scoring (due to limitations of the QC scoring system).

top Multi-Fibre-Order-Definition-Results

QC1 parameters

  • absolute transmission (ADU/sec) of fibre (QC1 database table uves_fib_fflat, column fib_effic_abs, product keyword QC.FIBi.ABSTRANS)
Description: average transmission countrate measured on each fibre

top Fibre-Line-Intensity-Test-Results

QC1 parameters

  • average intensity of ThAr lines (divided by EXPTIME) (QC1 database table uves_fib_wave, column int_avg, product keyword QC.INTAVG)
Description: To monitor ThAr intensity we measure the average intensity of a selected line list.
