Comparison old and new processing scheme
Find here a comparison of the (old) UVESR_2 scheme and the (new) UVES_R3 scheme. The old scheme had two bugs:
- the wrong processing parameter κ, set to 20 instead of 10 (affected data until acquisition date 2007-03-31),
- and the pipeline bug effective for the SNR computation of data until 2002-04-10.
The first issue caused spectral artefacts and prevented suppressing outliers. This triggered the reprocessing. The second issue was found by coincidence and fixed as well.
It turns out that apart from fixing the more obvious processing issues, the overall SNR is also slightly improved. This is visible in the comparison plot focussing on the same dataset processed with the old scheme (UVESR_2) and the new scheme (UVES_R3). Click 'comparison'.
