ODT Cleanroom - Short user's manual

(Link to the cleanroom map)

  1. In case of any accident with people or fire hazard follow the   emergency information   located inside the   sit-over area   (emergency call: 110).

  2. In case of problems or if an alarm sounds or if contamination is introduced to the   cleanroom area,   please contact

Sebastian Deiries extension: 6354, email: sdeiries@eso.org
Christoph Geimer extension: 6300, email: cgeimer@eso.org (if Sebastian is not reachable)
Daldrup Cleanroom Service phone: 07127-93240 (only in case of severe problems)

  3. Objects to be transferred into the cleanroom must be cleaned before.
Put small objects into a precleaned plastic container for the transport.
Remove dust from the container or from the bigger object with the vacuum cleaner. This should be done directly in front of the cleanroom door.

  4. Switch on the lights from outside and open the entrance door using the code number.

  5. If you enter the cleanroom in the evening (5:00 pm and later), on weekends or on Fridays switch the cleanroom to operation mode (put the two switches to position 2). Afterwards when you leave switch again both to position 1.

  6. Cleanroom log book:
Every time you enter the   cleanroom area   please indicate your name, date and time and your activity into the cleanroom log book which you find in the   sit-over area. Make remarks about anomalies and problems.

  7. In the   sit-over area   you can regulate the lights (all lights on - lights partly on - all lights off) and the air flow and switch the cleanroom from stand-by to operation mode and vice versa.
First step onto the outer adhesive mat in front of the seats, sit down and put on the booties over your shoes. Turn your legs towards the inner side and enter the   dressing area.   Avoid touching the outer adhesive mat with the booties and the inner adhesive mat with your shoes.

  8. Inside the   Cleanroom control center   in the   service area   you can regulate the amount of fresh air (0 % if nobody is present, 25 % or more if people are present).

  9. In the   dressing area   put on the overall and the hood.
Don't wear the overall if you just enter the   service area   behind the cleanroom!

  10. Enter the   cleanroom area.
Put on   gloves or a face mask   stored on the table inside if you work with CCDs.

  11. After work plug out the de-ionizer and   turn off the main valve of the gas supply   (located on the right side of the CCD detector shelf) if used and remove plug of device.
Then go back to the   dressing area, put off the cleanroom garments with exception of the booties and enter the   sit-over area.

  12. Indicate your exact working time in the   cleanroom log book, as well as all problems that occurred and all observations you made during your stay in the cleanroom.
If dirt is produced use the   vacuum cleaner   to remove it.
In case of working with chemicals use the   fume hood.

  13. In the   sit-over area   put off the booties, turn around your legs towards the side where the exit is.   Avoid touching the outer adhesive mat with the booties and the inner adhesive mat with your shoes.

  14. Open the entrance door using the   button signed as "Türöffner"   (= door opener) and switch off the lights.

  15. Restart after an emergency shut down:
In case of a shut down pull the red emergency knob first.
Then switch the main switch at the cleanroom control center in the   service area   to "off" and to "on" again until all engines restart.

  16. Cleanroom phone numbers (extensions):

    Cleanroom inside 6800
