VLT Common Software Survey

Dear VLT Common Software User,

The VLT Common Software you are using was first released 5 years ago and we had twice per year a new release since then. The system is considered mature and has been successfully used for the development of the VLT control software and of all VLT instruments' software.

We are now starting analysis activities for upgrades and for the next generation of Common Software for Control Applications. In that context the time has come to organize a survey and to ask what you consider as the strengths and the weaknesses of the VLT Common Software. This feedback, together with our own experience with the current system, will permit us to plan these future activities on a sound and solid basis.

The link at the bottom of this page will bring you to the questionnaire, which refers to all major features and concepts in the VLT Common Software. For each item, please give your vote in two areas:

Concept: How good and important is the concept described?

Useless: I do not know what to do with it
Very limited use: I could live without this feature
Useful: It is an interesting concept and I use it often
Important: It is an important concept and I use it all the time
Essential: I could not live without

Implementation: How good is the implementation (also in terms of performances) of the concept described?

Very bad: I really cannot use it
Bad: I have a lot of problems using it
Acceptable: It mostly works flawlessly
Good: I can use it without any problem
Very good: I cannot ask anything more
