              VLT COMMON SOFTWARE "FEB2000" - OVERVIEW
              ======================================

FEB2000 release is intended to be a bug-fix release, introducing
some minor changes in the VLT software modules and tools.

FEB2000 contains some additional patches for both Operating System 
In relation to the OCT99 release, for Solaris only there are some 
Y2K additional patches.

Features 

1. HP-UX 10.20, same as before but with Y2K patches.

2. CCSLite will be the only version available for SUN.
 
3. JAVA platform: JDK 1.1.7 + SWING 1.1 

4. GNU tools updated to gcc 2.95.2.  
   There are not considerable differences from the previous
   compiler. The only important thing to note is that a new
   compiler requires a new installation of tcltk also, as 
   the tcltk tools have dependencies from the gnu tools.

5. New version of VxWorks Tornado (for HP only), 
   including patches.
   Remark:
   Tornado 1 is used for Full-CCS; Tornado 2 for CCS-lite

6. MIDAS 99NOVpl1.1

7. pgplot added



Distribution
------------

The release distribution is limited to internal ESO sites.

According to project needs, distribution to external sites
can be provided on request.
