Last Update: 30/03/99 VLT-SW-FEB99 - INSTALLATION =========================== Installation of FEB99 follows the same path as the previous releases. Due to the Y2K compliance, the installation of FEB99 requires that the installation is done from scratch starting from the operating system. There is not an Installation Manual for FEB99, Issue 1.10 (OCT98) of the VLT-MAN-ESO-17200-0642 must be used instead, with the following exceptions: - p.21, 3.3 Installing the OS: - install HP-UX 10.20 as described in the VLT-MAN-ESO-17200-1645, issue 2.0 (available from patchedFiles/hpux_sum2.0.ps). - install SunSolaris 2.5.1 as from standard SUN documentation. - p.24, 3.5.1 Standard Environment do as described, but use the the latest version of the standard environment (available from patchedFiles/System.tar). More on the standard environment configuration can be found in the FEB99 Release Notes. - p.25, 3.5.2 Vlt ROOT ... use FEB99 instead of OCT98 - p.26, 3.6.5 VxWorks-TORNADO Since FEB99 there is only one WIND_BASE directory containing both PPC and 68K code. The tape contains a pre-generated version of the VxWorks directory structure (at present only for HP!). To install: cd /vlt tar xf /VxWorks/vw5.3.tar.gz /vlt - p.28, 3.6.9 MIDAS MIDAS patch level is now 8. Use /doc/install_FEB99_MIDAS.ascii - p.31, 3.8.1 Automatic Installation By default, both 68K and PPC code will be generated. By defining NO68K and/or NOPPC envioronment variables, you can skip one and/or the other LCU type. ___oOo___
