Scientific Data from AMBER Commissioning and Science Demonstration

AMBER commissioning activities at the VLTI have been ongoing since May 2004. A complete technical description of the AMBER instrument can be found at the AMBER instrument page. A technical description of the complete VLT Interferometer can be found at http://www.eso.org/projects/vlti/. A number of astronomical targets from various object classes have been observed in the framework of the Science Demonstration Time. The observations are made public, as soon as they are validated by the Science Demonstration Team.

The data are available directly on the ESO web. Access to these data is available to all registered users of the ESO Science Archive Facility (register here: http://archive.eso.org/register/new). ESO welcomes community feedback on any aspect of the reduction, analysis and interpretation of these data. Please contact the VLT/VLTI programme scientist jmelnick@eso.org with your comments and for further information on this release.

The AMBER data are stored as FITS binary tables. ESO does not provide at the moment explicit support for data reduction, but interested users may contact the AMBER consortium for insights into data processing.

The data available from the releases listed below have been validated by the corresponding PI's, but users are strongly invited to critically examine the data before using them for publications. If these data will be used for publications, please acknowledge that the results are based on public data released from the VLTI observing with AMBER.
