Astronomové využívající švýcarský Eulerův dalekohled o průměru primárního zrcadla 1,2 m, který pracuje na observatoři ESO/La Silla, nalezli zcela nový typ proměnných hvězd. Objev se podařil na základě detekce velmi jemných změn jasnosti stálic ve sledované hvězdokupě. Pozorování odhalila dosud neznámé vlastnosti některých hvězd, které odporují současným teoriím. Vyvstává tak otázka původu těchto změn jasnosti.
