I dag, i en øde del af de chilenske Andesbjerge, blev Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) indviet på en officiel ceremoni. Denne begivenhed markerer færdiggørelsen af alle de store systemer på det gigantiske teleskop og den formelle overgang fra et byggeprojekt til et fuldt fungerende teleskop. ALMA er et partnerskab mellem Europa, Nordamerika og Østasien i samarbejde med den Chilenske Republik.
