Uusi galaksiluokka on identifioitu käyttäen ESO:n VLT-teleskooppia, Gemini South -teleskooppia ja Canada-France-Hawaii -teleskooppia (CFHT). Epätavallisen ulkonäkönsä johdosta lempinimen "vihreä papu -galaksi" saaneet galaksit hohtavat hirviömäisen mustan aukon ympäristön säteilemää voimakasta valoa ja kuuluvat maailmankaikkeuden harvinaisimpiin kohteisiin.
