Chilessä ESO:n La Sillan observatoriolla sijaitsevaa sveitsiläistä 1.2-metrin Euler-teleskooppia käyttäneet tähtitieteilijät ovat havainneet uudentyyppisen muuttuvan tähden. Löytö perustuu tähtijoukon tähtien kirkkauden pikkuruisten muutosten havaitsemiseen. Havainnot paljastavat näissä tähdissä aiemmin tuntemattomia ominaisuuksia, jotka rikkovat nykyisiä teorioita ja tuovat esiin kysymyksiä muutosten alkuperästä.
