Cette magnifique nouvelle image des nuages cosmiques de la constellation d’Orion dévoile ce qui semble être un ruban flamboyant dans le ciel. Cette lueur orange représente en fait la faible lumière des grains de poussière froide interstellaire, à des longueurs d’onde bien trop grandes pour être vues par l’œil humain. Ce rayonnement est observé par le télescope APEX (Atacama Pathfinder Experiment) exploité par l’ESO au Chili.
