ALMA Array Operations Site (AOS)
The fibre optic room at the ALMA Array Operations Site (AOS) technical building, at an altitude of 5,000m on the Chajnantor plateau. Fibre optics play an important part in ALMA's work; bringing the signals from the antennas to the correlator where they are combined.
