High up in Chile

While inhospitable to humans, Chajnantor plateau in northern Chile is the perfect place for millimetre/submillimetre astronomy, such as employed in the Atacama Large Millimetre/submillietre Array (ALMA).

The extreme 5000-m altitude, combined with the very arid environment, makes for some perfect sky shots.
