Chajnantor panoramic view December 2005 *

After driving some 30 kilometres up the access road, this panorama view across the northern part of the Chajnantor plain appears at the time shortly before sunset. From left to right are Cerro Chajnantor with the APEX telescope, the access road, which is used by the ALMA antenna transporters, Cerro Chascon, and the 5000-metre altitude plains where the antennas will be located.
