Sunrise Green Flash
The very first rays of the Sun, rising from behind Cerro Armazones, show a greenish hue because of the refraction of the atmosphere. This rare phenomenon, known as a 'green flash', is best seen at sites with exceptional atmospheric conditions, such as the area around ESO’s Paranal Observatory.
