The European Extremely Large Telescope
Top view of the 3-dimensional model of the European Extremely Large Telescope and its enclosure. The primary mirror has a diameter of 39 metres and is composed of about 800 segments, each 1.45 m wide. The secondary mirror is as large as 4.2 metres in diameter.
The design for the E-ELT shown here was published in 2009 and is preliminary.
