E-ELT Exhibition at ESO Headquarters
ESO staff members visit the special European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT) exhibition set up at the ESO Headquarters storage hall for the ESO Council's visit in December 2010. The exhibition presented E-ELT prototypes and scale models. In this picture is a model of one of the nearly one thousand hexagonal segments which will compose the 40-metre-class primary mirror of the E-ELT. Each segment will be about 1.4 metres across and just 5 cm thick.
