Star formation in the constellation of Monoceros

This chart shows the location of a rich star-forming region within the constellation of Monoceros (the Unicorn). This map shows most of the stars visible to the unaided eye under good conditions and the position of Monoceros R2 itself is marked with a red circle. Although most of this stellar nursery is hidden by dust, the brighter reflection nebulae are faintly visible in moderate-sized telescopes.
