ESO Open House Day 2011
Children watch as an ESO volunteer shows them how to pilot the virtual giant ALMA antenna transporter at ESO’s Open House Day 2011 in Garching bei München. ALMA will be an array of 66 ultra-precision millimetre/submillimetre wave radio antennas working together as one telescope, stretching across distances up to 16 kilometres, and built by ALMA’s multinational partners in Europe, North America and East Asia.
