VLTI lab

The light from several telescopes –either the 8.2m UTs or the 1.8m ATs- can be combined so to reveal details much smaller than those visible by a single telescope. This technique is the interferometry, converting the VLT into VLTI. This image shows the laboratory where the light from the telescopes is actually combined.
