VLT's Laser Guide Star
The unmistakable orange glow of a Laser Guide Star emanates from one of the Very Large Telescope's (VLT) 8.2-metre Unit Telescopes. Beyond, the Milky Way's intricate details are revealed — dark dust lanes intermingle with areas of faint emission. ESO's VLT is located at the Paranal Observatory in northern Chile.
