Image showing the Swedish-ESO 15m Submillimeter Telescope (SEST) in the sunset. The 15m SEST is designed to observe at sub-millimetric wavelengths (almost radio waves). It was built in 1987 on La Silla. The SEST has been decommissioned in 2003, with the beginning of operations at the new APEX telescope on Chajnantor.
