Paranal Observatory purchases its water requirements from the water utility company in Antofagasta, and it requires that it be transported by trucks to Paranal. The contract shall start on 1 July 2013 for a period of 3 years with an option to extend by up to 2 more years. The Call for tender is scheduled to be issued in Q1/2013 to potential bidders in  Chile.
