A sample of galaxies from the Sloan Digitized Sky Survey

A small selection of 16 galaxies (from the main sample of 30 000 galaxies analysed by Kambiz Fathi) illustrating the rich variety of the shapes that these galaxies have reached, despite their similarities with the Milky Way in terms of their star content in the central regions. Each panel spans an area of 0.03 x 0.03 degrees angle on the sky, and some of the objects are smaller since they are further away from us.
