Astronomer har funnet en ny type variable stjerner ved hjelp av det sveitsiske Euler-teleskopet ved ESOs La Silla-observatorium i Chile. Forskerteamet gjorde oppdagelsen da de registrerte svært små lysstyrkevariasjoner hos enkelte medlemmer i en stjernehop. Observasjonene avslørte at stjernene hadde hittil ukjente egenskaper, som strider mot gjeldende teorier og reiser spørsmål om årsaken til variasjonene.
