Dette nye bildet fra MPG/ESOs 2,2-metersteleskop ved La Silla-observatoriet i Chile viser galaksen NGC 1316 og dens mindre nabo NGC 1317. Selv om objektene ligger forholdsvis nære hverandre i rommet, har de svært ulike forhistorier. Den lille spiralgalaksen NGC 1317 virker å ha levd et rolig liv, mens NGC 1316 har slukt flere andre galakser og har arr som bevis på de voldsomme slagene den har utkjempet.
