Mathieu Isidro

Science Communication Assistant

Mathieu is a French Australian dual national who holds a BA in English philology and a MA in translation and communication from ISIT, in Paris. His life-long passion for astronomy led him to write his MA thesis on a report to the US Astronomy and Astrophysics Advisory Committee entitled "A strategy for the detection and characterization of exoplanets". At the same time, he executed his final internship at CNES, the French space agency, where he was in charge of compiling, editing and translating the agency's biennial report. He then worked at Interpol as an English communication officer before seizing the opportunity to work at ESO.

Keeping in mind his goal to combine his two passions - space and communication -, Mathieu now occupies his free time by writing articles for CNES' website and working as a freelance translator, specializing in science and space. He is also part of the TED Open Translation initiative. Mathieu greatly enjoys traveling, food, wine, culture and languages.
