In 1996-97 Astronomy On-Line was the world's biggest astronomy event on the World-Wide-Web. It brought together thousands of students from all over Europe and other continents. Whilst learning to use the vast resources of tomorrow's communication technology, they also experienced the excitement of real-time scientific adventure and the virtues of international collaboration.
