Observational Data

You may remember that observational data were obtained for most of the projects submitted to the participating observatories by Astronomy On-line participants. An overview of where these data are available was published in an earlier Newspaper article.

In the meantime, information has been received from the Teide Observatory on Tenerife about the availability of data from the telescope there (see below for the details).

It appears that some of the participants have had problems in reading some of the files which were made available by the observatories. This should be no surprise, since there are many different software packages available and not all are able to read the FITS files, as they are delivered in the professional world.

The organizers will do their best to help out those who have sent in observing proposals for which data were obtained.

Information about the observational data at Teide


Dear Albert,

My name is Oriol Fuentes and I was one of the astronomers who
took the images for the astronomy-on-line project (in the Teide
Observatory).

I am very sorry for such a big delay, but finally here you are the
images.

They are in fits format and all them are raw images. To access them
you must make an ftp anonymous to ftp.iac.es and then change directory
to pub/ofm. The filenames correspond to:

bias - bias
bias2 - bias

flatB - Flat in B filter, 55 seconds exposure
flatV - Flat in V filter, 19 seconds exposure
flatR - Flat in R filter, 9 seconds exposure
flatI - Flat in I filter, 5 seconds exposure
