| Title | Lunar relief and transient phenomena |
| Proposing Group(s) | SkyWalkers from MG Varna |
Abstract: Several photographs of certain objects on the Moon will be made at different moments of time corresponding to different phases. The shadows of objects will be measured and the objects' heights will be calculated. Selected Moon objects will be regularly observed in order some events of unusual luminescence to be registered.
General Comments: The first part is easily feasible and permits an interesting exercise, while the second needs a long-term monitoring program out of the scope of the Astronomy On-Line "hot week". The authors are encouraged to carry out this second part by themselves if they have regular access to a small or medium-sized telescope.
Visibility: The moon is at first quarter during the period of observations, so there is no problem.
Special Comments: Transient phenomena on the Moon are very rare events.
Expected time consumption (including overhead):It is suggested that three images of two different regions of the Moon are taken in three consecutive days. The regions should be at the terminator the first day of observation.
Proposed facility:36 cm. Crni Vrh telescope at f/11, using the lowest-transmission filter to reduce likely saturation problems.
