| Title | Binary Star System 66 Cet |
| Proposing Group(s) | Sixth Form Astronomy |
Abstract: To obtain images of the well documented binary star system, 66 Cet, using a range of filters. To process the data and compare it to the published data. To use the data to make a colour image of the system.
General Comments: The proposal aims at imaging a bright (V=5.64 and V=7.7) visual binary with a separation of 16.5 arcsec in four colours. Due to the brightness a neutral density filter is required (for a 1m class telescope).
Visibility: The target should be visible from both hemispheres
Special Comments: As long as 16.5 arcsecs can be spatially resolved, a telescope smaller in size than the Dutch could be used
Expected time consumption (including overhead): About 10 minutes.
Proposed facility:The Dutch telescope on La Silla has the highest probability of clear skies. Should time pressure be too high on that telescope, this project could be easily done with a smaller one.
