The Lyra is a small constellation, observable in summer (passage at the meridian on august 15).It is near the constellations of the Eagle, the Swan, and Hercule.
The most brillant four stars form a parallelogramm whose top is dominated by a beautiful blue flame; This brilliant sapphire facing Lyra is the star Vega, meaning "the Eagle" in arabic. She is the summer queen of nights and the fifth most brillant star of the sky. She is distant from 25.3 Al.
Our star is 50 times as brilliant, three time as massive and bigger than our Sun. She is of whitish blue colour, magnitude 0.04 and type spectral A0V. Together with two other stars, Véga, Deneb (of Swan), and Altair (of Eagle) form the famous "summer triangle".
12 000 years ago, she was our Pole Star. She possesses a companion (forming a typical double star). The Sun and its procession of planets moves in its direction, at the speed of 19km/h. She was the first star ever taken in photography (in Harvard USA) on july 17.1850
