COMPARISON WITH M 1

It is the first object Messier detected, that is why it took too the name of M1, or else NGC 1952. This nebula is situated in the bull constellation ( Taurus ).

M1 ( VLT )

It is maybe the most famous planetary nebula, because it appeared on the 4th July 1054 and the Chinese and the South Americans have observed this one in daylight, and we found tales about its observation. At this moment its magnitude was - 6. So it was 6 times more shining that Venus. But today it is only 8.4, so we can't see it with a small telescope. M1 is move away 6,300 ly and its apparent dimension is to 360"x240".

In 1948 and 1963, the scientists discovered that the nebula emit radio waves. It emit too red radiations, so we can conclude it contain hydrogen, like Dumbbell. There is too blue radiation but it's product by the pulsar of the nebula. It's result from the explosion of the star in 1054.

We can compared it with a clock, because it has a regulary movement : it go round in 33 ms.

For conclusion, the similars characteristics are : And the differents characteristics are :

- the nature of these objects : planetary nebula.

- the composition : cloud of hot gas

- the position : in our Galaxy.

- the origine : a novae for M27 against a supernovae for M1.

- the nature of the central star in these nebulas : a blue dwarf for M27 against a pulsar for M1.

- the form : globular form for M1 against bipolar form for M27
