OBSERVATION II    (Computerized and motorized aiming at the sun and first contacts) From   7:00 to 8:00

Photos: Everything was ready  at 7:00. Aiming at the sun a t  7:02 . Javi and TEAM 3 ready.   Students from 2º ESO cut and place the solar filters in the telescopes and cameras.

The colleagues from  A. C. O. A. A., went to a different location in Huelva to record from  7:15 to  7:45 the contacts I and II of Venus and the sun. They thought they would not be visible from the school. - Picture of the second contact, perfectly synchronized- But Francisco Fernando Pérez, a students from 2º B realized that the second contact could be seen from the nearby roofs and the gym roof. He told about this and placed his telescope perfectly. Helped by his classmates of 2º D.  - This  was our TEAM 2 .

As Francisco observed, Daniel from  3º B kept in his hands the digital cronometer synchronized to T. U. every half an hour by Carmen from 2º D. It was him the first one to determine Contact II at 7:40:10  local time, 5:40:10 TU. The last picture shows Carmen sitting and taking notes of the times expressed by Daniel while Chico helps to relocate the telescope in a more comfortable position to get ready for the third contact hours later. At the same time the colleagues from  A. C. O. A. A., using a  GPS, camera and tripod from the Association of Astronomy of Huelva, obtained  a video recording, the GPS position, atmospherical data and times of contact I and II. Check contact times for the first and second contacts in Huelva and Sevilla, with a difference of less than 0.3 seconds in both  and since we didn’t receive any reply by email from  rt2004.imcce.fra, we supposed it wasn’t a mistake to consider the same location for the colour video  team4. The same equipment was used. (In coordinates 37º 16´ 19" North and 6º 55´ 36" West , approximately half a minute more to the north and the same to the East). Thanks to Frank’s warning (since adult people thought for sure that the roofs would prevent the sighting) Diego had time to visually capture contact II in the screen of the laptop with the camera LPI. In a hurry he didn’t get to record it. All this happened at 5:40:09 TU. A second of difference between both. We were sure we were doing something useful.    Simultaneously Sara and Cristian, students from 4º, using the program STOPER (web atomic clock) checked  T. U (Universal time) in the computer lab on the Internet and the using mobile phones checked the synchronization of the cameras from the astronomy association (so that they wouldn’t forget to activate the TIME option in the recording).

From  8:00 to 9:30 The colleagues from the Asociación Astronómica de Huelva come back with the recordings of the first contacts. We tried to transmit the images via internet but as we explained earlier, that day it was not possible. At that moment the black and white video started recording the transit in Team 1 and we had problems to reset the computer. The synchronization fails and nothing is recorded until  6:58:01 TU. At the same time, Antonio Vides (photo), a collaborating senior teacher starts recording the activities who are participating in the organization, their reactions and questions from the students who come to see the event. The organizing students finish getting everything ready: protection fences, table and chairs, clothes to cover the goal as a parasol and the tv set.
