Mounted image 32: The ISAAC infrared images of Messier 16
An image of the Eagle Nebula, also known as Messier 16, with its photogenic, dusty pillars rising through background and foreground stars. A number of red objects can be seen associated with the pillars; some of these are just background sources seen through the dust, but some are probably young stars embedded in the pillars.
