Very Large Telescope at sunset
This stunning wide angle image shows ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT) as the sun sets over the site at Paranal in Chile's Atacama Desert.
Visible here are the four Unit Telescopes with mirrors 8.2 metres in diameter and the four moveable 1.8-metre diameter Auxiliary Telescopes.
