Hardware list for ATS Control Model

1 - Introduction

This list is based on the document VLT-ICD-ESO-15100-1528, Issue 4.1.
It is a draft of the hardware that might be purchased for the ATCS Control Model.

1.1 - Naming Conventions

The naming of the processing units is not yet finalized, but has been established together with Erik Allaert: the second letter shall be x for all ATCS computers.
The indexing is identical to the one used on the UTs and CM, namely:

0 is the Control Model unit,
the other positive values are referencing the real AT units.

2 - Network

5 - Prototype & Control Model

The minimum equipment for the ATCS prototype and Control Model consists in 1 WS and 2 LCUs.
Depending on the level of simulation we wish to achieve, we have the choice of implementing simulation processes on the LCUs that completely skip the need of dedicated hardware and/or based on either an instrumentation PC as replacement of the real hardware or unused I/O channels as a loopback to the simulation processes.

The necessary space checking has been made in the Control Model room:
an additional cupboard has been ordered in which we may occupy 1 or 2 VME creates for the AT.

Nota Bene: Due to the price of the devices (TCCD and STRAP especially), and also due to purchase considerations, none of the AT hardware, but possibly the CPUs, will remain in the CM.
The hardware will be integrated in the ATs in due time so that the availability of this dedicated hardware will end with the last AT and STRAP deliveries.
