FLAMES-GIRAFFE MED flatfield products (HR15_679.7)
Extracted fibres (EXTSPECTRA, _0005.fits):
The extracted signal is recorded in one column per fibre found. The product file is 2D, with X
corresponding to the fibre index and Y being the original Y pixel coordinate. The dimension
is (N_fib x 4096). The original X center coordinate per fibre is stored in the product file
LOCALIZATION_CENTROID, _0000.fits. The width of the extraction is stored in the product file
LOCALIZATION_WIDTH, _0001.fits.
The display of the extraction file should look smooth; bumps or areas of strongly deviating shape
are indicative of bad-quality extraction. Single fibers may show lower or higher intensities
(sky, simcal etc.).
Plate 1
Tracings of extracted fibres (fibre #10 and average):
Two tracings are shown here, one from fibre #10 and one showing the average fibre signal. The
tracings are vertical in the product file (columns correspond to fibres).
Mean efficiencies:
This plot is a vertical collapse of EXTSPECTRA. It shows the mean efficiencies per fibre. This
pattern should be very stable (less than one percent variation). The record of all measurements
for this setting is shown here.
