eltpsffit -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the README file for version 1.1 of eltpsffit by J. Liske, jliske@eso.org. Release date: 05/05/2009 eltpsffit is a program to fit 2D images of point spread functions (PSFs) with a combination of various analytical functions. Although in principle any PSF image can be fit, eltpsffit was designed to fit the PSFs produced by OCTOPUS, ESO's numerical end-to-end PSF simulation tool. In particular, eltpsffit is capable of fitting the high-Strehl PSFs produced by adaptive optics systems. The purpose of fitting PSF images is (i) to obtain a more manageable representation of a PSF (tens of parameters vs 4kx4k pixel) and (ii) to eliminate speckle noise that is often present in the simulated PSF images due to the short timescale covered by the simulations. INSTALLATION ------------ For instructions on how to install eltpsffit and indeed for any other questions please see the WWW pages at http://www.eso.org/sci/facilities/eelt/science/drm/tech_data/ao/psf_fitting/ DISCLAIMER ---------- Copyright (C) 2009 by Jochen Liske, jliske@eso.org This program is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.
