THE E-ELT PROJECT SCIENCE TEAM
Recruitment of the Project Science Team
The European Southern Observatory invited the astronomical community to nominate candidates for the E-ELT Project Science Team by the end of March 2012.
The E-ELT Project Science Team is an advisory working group that will support the E-ELT programme during the construction phase.
Over 80 nominations, all of strong candidates, have been received by the deadline. The project is very grateful for this overwhelming response and the great interest of the community in helping to steer the project.
A team of a dozen candidates has been assembled by the E-ELT Programme Scientist (Roberto Gilmozzi) and the ESO Director General.
The team members are (in alphabetical order):
Giuseppe Bono, Jordi Cepa, Gael Chauvin, Therese Encrenaz, Roland Gredel, Tom Herbst, Isobel Hook, Christoph Keller, Oleg Kochukhov, Rubina Kotak, Carlos Martins, Didier Queloz and Roberto Ragazzoni.
Further, the E-ELT system scientist (Jason Spyromilio), the E-ELT instrument scientist (Suzie Ramsay) and the E-ELT project scientist (Markus Kissler-Patig) are ex-officio members.
The E-ELT project is looking forward to work with a team of outstanding scientists of its community.
