Oral title: The Strange BAT AGN Was 49b Oral abstract: Galaxy interactions play a key role in AGN studies, from the triggering of AGNs in pairs, to the extreme absorption manifest in the X-ray spectra of many advanced mergers. Of all the AGNs detected by Swift, Was 49b is one of the strangest, as the location of the AGN is within the disk of the otherwise normal galaxy Was 49a. We recently showed that this is because Was 49b is hosted by a merging dwarf galaxy, thus leaving Was 49a almost unperturbed. Moreover, its SMBH is 10^8 MSol, nearly 10% of its stellar mass. In this talk, I will discuss new developments in the study of this peculiar system.
