Oral title: Measuring redshifts from X-ray spectra of obscured AGN Oral abstract: I will present a method to constrain redshifts through X-ray absorption edges in obscured AGN. I apply Bayesian model template fitting to imaging X-ray spectra and obtain redshift probability distributions. We demonstrate our method on real CDF-S data and thoroughly verify its applicability by simulating current and upcoming missions. The redshift uncertainty depends on photon counts, obscuration and instrument. However, not meeting the conditions does not lead to wrong results, only large uncertainties. This method can be used to confirm or independently measure redshifts of obscured AGN.
