Oral title: The joint fit of the black hole mass and Eddington ratio distribution function Oral abstract: The fundamental characteristics of AGN are captured by three distributions which describe the population's luminosities, black hole masses, and Eddington ratios. These distributions could previously only be constrained for parts of the population. We thus relied on a phenomenological approach to infer the population's statistical properties and to investigate their implication for the quenching of star formation. BASS now allows us to directly measure all three distributions, enabling us to test various aspects and to gain a complete census of the local AGN population.
