The European Southern Observatory
(ESO) and the Sociedad Chilena de Astronomía
(SOCHIAS) have organized the LATIN AMERICAN ASTRONOMY
SUMMER SCHOOL. It took place in Santiago, Chile, 8-10
December 2005, the week before the Regional Meeting of the International Astronomical
Union, held on 12-16 December 2005 in Pucón, Chile
(~800 km south of Santiago).
The aim of this multi-thematic Latin American School was to provide students and young researchers exposure to different front-line areas of research being presented by major players in the promotion and/or execution of those areas. The lectures had a pedagogical character.
