General Description

The PCI to Fiberoptic Converter is a PCI card that contains the communications channel to the front-end (byte conversation compatible with earlier IRACE RS232 or PP protocol ) and the DMA data receiver channel. A PLX 9054 chip handles all PCI actions, the IRACE specific protocols are generated in a 10K50 Altera Flex FPGA. The data with IRACE protocol are then transmitted/received from HDMP 1022/24 Parallel to Serial converters. The conversion from copper to fiberoptic is done with a Siemens fiberoptic transceivers.
