Five years of science operations of the VLT on Paranal

Abstract: The operations statistics of the first five years of VLT science operations are presented and analysed. The difficulties and successes encountered in the organisation and execution of the science operations support tasks are reviewed. The lessons drawn from this experience are discussed.
