Faint Object Camera

During PODPS pipeline calibration, GEIS format data sets consisting of a Standard Header Packet, a Unique Data Log, a Science Data file and an associated Data Quality file are created for the Faint Object Camera (FOC). Each data file comprises two parts - an ASCII header file and a binary data file. All files for a particular observation have the same root file name; the type of data in each file is identified by its extension (Table 1). These data sets are used as input to the standard calibration program, CALFOC, which produces one or two calibrated images (Table 2). The Standard Header Packet, Unique Data Log, and Data Quality files are not used in the calibration. The different file types constituting a data set are described in more detail below.
