List of
VLTI calibrators
. This is the first version of a list
of calibrators selected specifically for the VLTI/VINCI
requirements, i.e. baselines 8-200 meters and K mag brighter
than about 3. At this stage, the list provides only the
names of the sources and their quality flags.
The list is
provided as an ASCII file with one star on each
row. The tab-separated fields are the name of the
calibrator, its right ascension, the sign of the declination
(-1 for south, +1 for north), the absolute value of the
declination, and the quality flag (QF).
The QF have the following values:
no special notes, the calibrator is of the best quality.
the calibrators has some notes, which warrant caution.
Typically QF=2 is assigned to stars for which
characteristics of variability or binarity are knwon, but with
no measurable effects expected on the visibility.
this code is assigned to variable or binary stars
with possible non-negligible
effects on the visibility (depending on accuracy
of measurement and baseline employed).
QF=3 are normally discarded, but
those already observed by the VLTI are kept in this list.
Work is
in progress to establish a grand fit of all VLTI calibrators
observations and derive new diameter estimates for each
of these stars. See also presentations during the workshop.
List of MIDI calibrators
(txt,
ps).
This list has been established by the MIDI
consortium for the purpose of observations with their
instrument in the thermal infrared. The list is
described in the presentation by B. Stecklum.
Updated files received on May 19, 2003 from
T. Verhoelst:
MIDI calibrators
full list (237 kB),
filtered list (87 kB)
containing only stars with chi2 fits below 5.
These figures show the
diameter
and
error
distributions of the two files.
